Well… it’s the Hump Day before Christmas. We aren’t even thinking about Hump Day!!! All we have on our minds are gifts, gatherings, family, friends and schedules. Perhaps we’re thinking of the way it should be and with that we may feel multiple emotions. But in and through it all let’s remember to put Christ right in the middle it all. Then everything will be as it should be. Don’t sweat it. It’ll all come together. Let the Lord lead you and not the day. Not the event nor the happenings. Don’t sweat it. If need be, you can celebrate the day before, the day after, or the week after. Whenever you celebrate, remember to enjoy the in-betweens as much as the day itself.
Christmas is more than a day. Christmas is centered on Christ. The world can try all it may to take Christ out of Christmas but it can’t. The day doesn’t matter. It’s Christ. It’s Christ. It’s Christ. Christ, the son of God, born as a babe… to become a man… to take our punishment… to take our guilt upon him. He died in our place. He broke the chains of death. He rose to life. He ascended to heaven and is at the right hand of the Father. He’s there interceding for us now. He prayed for us before he went to the cross, see John 17. He prays for us now. See Romans 8:34. He came to give us eternal life and the way back to God the Father.
That’s what Christmas is about. Embrace it. Embrace him. Invite him into your Christmas and if need be into your life. Accept his gift of life and celebrate his birth this Christmas!
Merry Christmas. And remember, don’t sweat Hump Days or the small stuff because Friday is a-comin’. Most importantly Christ came and he’s coming back again. Celebrate him this Christmas!
