Are you a Polyannna or an Eeyore? Either extreme will affect how you maneuver through life and how you view Hump-Day. I heard this story the other day and it was inspiring. We all know the Eeyore kind of people. They seem to outnumber the half-full kind of people. Which one are you? Perhaps this story will inspire you to look for the good in situations.
There was a father who had two sons. One extremely positive ALWAYS seeing the good in everything. The other one was extremely negative, ALWAYS seeing the negative side in everything. The Father decided to give a lesson to help them both with their extremes. He put the negative one in a room with only toys, the coolest and best. He places the other in a barn with nothing but a big pile of manure. He left them each in their room for over an hour before checking on them.
He checked on the negative child. The one with the toys. He found him sitting and murmuring in the corner not playing with anything because of the amount of toys. He wouldn’t even enter in to explore the world of toys.
He then checked on the child in the barn with the pile of manure. He found him with a shovel, digging like crazy. The father asked, “Son, what are you doing?” he said, “Dad, with this big pile of manure in here, there’s got to be a horse somewhere!”
With which do you identify? Now, we don’t all need to run out and grab shovels… if we did we would be shoveling something… and others will see right through it. If, however, we seek to have an eternal perspective, God will meet us there. He’ll refine our hearts and changing our perspective.
So this Hump-Day, don’t let things overwhelm you where you can’t participate in life. Seek God’s perspective and he’ll fill you, walk with you and guide you. He loves you so!!!
Remember, Friday is acomin’ but most importantly, Christ is coming back too!
