Do you take light for granted? On this Hump-Day Wednesday, let’s ponder it.
The light shining through this one-way tunnel is a stark reminder. You can drive through it either direction but it’s only one direction at a time. Not two cars going in opposite directions at the same time. There are striking resemblances to the veracity of God’s truth here.
- As the light shines through the tunnel (as in the image) it will reveal shadows of oncoming traffic. At night the lights from the cars pierce through the darkness alerting others. Either way the light reveals, guides and directs. Could you imagine ignoring this? It would be to your peril.
- There’s only one direction for each vehicle to go. One direction only.
I saw the light shining through this tunnel and the contrast was great. Welcoming is the light. One longs to bask it, walk in it and by it. Because of the light the darkness is manifest. Because of the light we see the darkness. 1 John 2 tells us that those who walk in the darkness stumble around because they can’t see where they are going. They can’t see where they’re going—but they’re still walking around.
When common sense seems to allude people, we need to remember that they can’t see—for they walk in darkness. People tend to forget that there’s nothing new under the sun. When people won’t or don’t know to compare historical accounts for result analysis… we need to remember they’re stumbling around—not knowing where they’re going.
Jesus is the light of the world. He is the true light which coming into the world enlightens every man John 1. The light has come!
God’s laws and the sacrificial system in the old testament are shadows of things that were to come. The substance is Christ, Colossians 2; Hebrews 8, and 10.
Light and shadows. All are possible because of God. We can tell the difference between light and dark because of God. We can tell the difference between good and bad because of God.
He has given us all we need to know him. Creation itself speaks for God Romans 1. God’s given us his word and prophecies to prepare and turn people to him for salvation.
Light and darkness—in which one are you walking?
Contemplate these things on this Hump-Day. And remember… Friday is acomin’. Most importantly, Christ is coming back too.
